Using CSV Format

Many of our customers run into a common issue at the time of exporting and importing data into our system: the CSV format.
When you use Excel to open a file, it tends to modify long numbers, such as the credit card numbers and convert them into scientific notation. If you try to import data into our system with scientific notation in the credit card field, the system will not recognize this format and reject it, causing the import to fail.
This is what you need to do:
- Export the data into your computer and save it in a folder. Now open Excel and go to "Data", from the upper tabs.
- Click on "From Text". This will open up a new window for you to select the file you wish to import to the Excel book1.
- Select the data you exported from our system and saved in your computer, to import it into the new Excel book1.
- A new window will come up with some options to open the file, select "Delimited" and click next, select "Comma" and click next. Now you need to find the column with the credit card number, click on it to highlight it, and select "Text" at the top. Click finish.
After you have applied these steps, you will see that the credit card field will show all the numbers, instead of showing a scientific notation.
You should follow the same steps to save any data before importing it into our system. This way you will ensure that all the data keep the correct format to be imported into Lime Light CRM.
